James F. Lee, Jr.

Jim Lee concentrates his practice on general business advice, including mergers and acquisitions, and litigation.
Jim is the General Counsel for the Maryland American Institute of Architects. He is an associate member of the Baltimore, Potomac Valley, Northern Virginia and DC chapters of the AIA, he has taught classes on ownership transition, employment law risk management and contract documents. Jim was honored as the 2000 Allied Professional of the Year by the AIA Northern Virginia Chapter.
Jim is active in the Metropolitan Washington and Maryland chapters of the American Council of Engineering Companies as well as the Maryland Society of Surveyors. Jim is also active in the ACEC Legal Counsel Forum. He is an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and a mediator with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Jim has resolved legal and medical malpractice claims, construction disputes and contract claims. He also has been selected to arbitrate WMATA construction related claims.
Jim is a past President of the DC Defense Lawyers Association, a member of the ABA Forum on Construction and active in several Maryland state and county bar associations. Jim is the current President of The Counsellors. A former Army JAG Corps trial attorney, he sits on the Boards of the non-profit Council for Court Excellence, the Washington Architectural Foundation and Technical Resources International, Inc.
Jim has authored articles and speeches on defamation claims, business torts, and copyright law for design professionals.
Jim graduated from Syracuse University with a joint degree (B.A. 1972, J.D. 1974). He is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in the District of Columbia, Maryland, New York, U.S. Claims Court and the U.S. Supreme Court and has tried cases from New York to North Carolina.
